Classes are fun and friendly but are taught in a professional way that will make you feel at ease learning the dance. We run two classes per evening The first class is a beginners lesson which lasts for 30 minutes. We then have a 30 minute break where you can practise what you have learnt or ask questions etc. We then have a second lesson for people who have been dancing for longer than 6 weeks. Beginners during this time will be given a 30 minute refresher on what they learnt during the first lesson. We then carry on with Freestyle music throught until 11pm.
There is no need to bring a partner with you as we work a rotational basis, giving you a chance to dance and meet everyone. You do not need to pre book lessons and it does not matter if you miss a lesson as we cover the beginners section every six weeks. Your first class is free and after that lessons are just £6 per night.

FAQ
Frequently Asked questions
I have never danced before, will it be hard?
Not at all. Modern Smooth jive is very easy to learn.
Whats the difference between Smooth Jive and Leroc?
Both are forms of Modern Jive however Smooth Jive is danced in a slot with more emphasis on technique, style and musicality. Women also take some of the responsibility for the dance in Smooth Jive.
What Do I need to wear?
Women should avoid wearing high heels as they are hard to dance in and can damage the dance floor. We recommend wearing hard, non-rubber soled shoes if possible. We also recommend a change of shirt or two as there is a fair amount of physical activity involved in dancing.
What music do you play?
Almost anything. Our main staple of music will be pop, R&B, Blues, Swing, Hip Hop and Latin. See our music page (HERE) for our song list.
Do I need to bring a partner?
No. We operate a rotation system meaning that you will be change dance partners regularly throughout the evening..
Can I bring my own drinks?
Yes. We do not have a bar at our Broomsgroove venue. There will be free water available and cans of drink for sale. Please be careful not to spill water on the dance floor as it can damage dance shoes and cause slipping.
